As Guaní people, or Taíno as some have heard of it, we work to reawaken our culture every day. Our people were the first to experience the onslaught of genocide that arrived with Christopher Columbus in 1492. We were not wiped out, we are not extinct, although portions of our culture have been decimated. We work through the Traditional Center for Indigenous Knowledge and Healing to connect and grow our culture as a means of revitalization.
